Principal activities and reviewThe British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body (BIIAB) providesregulated qualifications across the four countries of the United Kingdom;quality assurance packages (QADAPs) to private training providers, further education colleges and employers;knowledge testing services to selected end-point assessment organisations;full-service end point assessment of apprentices;primarily in the licensed hospitality, care, retail and customer service sectors.The change to the company structure and name to BIIAB Qualifications Limited, was agreed a number of years ago as part of a long term strategic review of the BIIAB. The change would allow a sale of the business in the future if it was deemed to be the right strategic choice by the Trustees board. The change was instigated in May 2020 as part of the agreed plan.Following an extensive strategic review the BII has agreed a long term partnership agreement with the Skills and Education Group. As part of this agreement BIIAB Qualifications Limited has moved to the group from the 1st of March 2021. This provides a significant opportunity for the BII and its members now able to access the resources of this well established and respected group with it also retaining the identity of the BIIAB Qualifications Ltd and its focus on the hospitality sector. BIIAB will be helped by BII as a dormant company.
